The American Dream Belongs to All

How would you feel to be part of a country that does not recognize your basic humanity let alone the rights you should have as a part of that nation? This is how you legal immigrants feel on a daily basis. In the discussion of whether or not we should allow them to be here, we often forget that they too are human beings with fears and dreams. As advocate for them to leave this country, we must realize that we are stopping them from achieving the American dream.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin work tirelessly to change the mindset of the common American citizen. They have been the victims of racial injustice and they long to see this evil eradicated. They felt the impact of racial injustice at the hands of Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin often reported and published on the criminal activity that the Maricopa County Police Department Sheriff was guilty of. This man did not like to see his tyrannical ways challenged and he decided he would rather break the law rather than upholding it concerning Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin. Because they were Hispanics, he lied to the judges that they were illegal citizens who did not have passports to be here. He then used that false ground to obtain an illegal warrant which he then use to go into their homes. Holding them at gunpoint he told them to relinquish all and any reports they had that opposed him. This is something that you would have seen in Nazi Germany.

The government ended up recognizing this a violation of First Amendment and immediately apologized to Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin and gave them the grant money necessary to start the immigrant advocacy group known as the Lacey and Larkin Frontera Fund.
